Kitchener Plumbing Co. is a booking line. It is not a plumbing company, and it is not a directory that sells your enquiry to a list of bidders. It connects to one local plumbing contractor working across Kitchener — the century core around downtown, Cedar Hill and Victoria Park, the 1960s-80s rings of Forest Heights, Stanley Park, Heritage Park and Country Hills, and the new subdivisions in Doon South, Huron Park and Trussler — plus Waterloo, Breslau and New Hamburg.

Plumbing attracts a particular kind of selling, because most calls come when something is already wrong and the homeowner is standing in water. A repair that becomes a replacement nobody asked for. A tankless heater sold at midnight. A softener or heater sold at the door with a contract that is hard to leave. A sump pump sold for a problem that was water coming through the wall. A drain snaked for the fourth time when a camera would have shown a collapsed clay pipe after the first. Anyone who has owned an older house in Kitchener has seen at least one of those.

The point of this site is a straight line to a plumber who helps you stop the water on the phone, looks at the actual pipe before pricing anything, tells you whether it is a repair or a replacement and why, puts the number in writing before starting, pulls the permit where the job needs one, and says plainly when the problem belongs to another trade.

What we will not do: publish reviews we do not have, invent a rating or a star count, quote a fixed price on a website, claim to be a dealer or certified installer for any brand of heater, pump or softener, or sell your phone number. This site is new. It says what it can do and nothing more.

What the plumber handles

• Emergency plumbing: burst and frozen pipes, sewer backups, failed heaters and sump pumps, shut-off help by phone
• Drain cleaning and clogged drains: augering, hydro-jetting, camera inspection and locating, root cutting, clean-out installation
• Water heater installation: tank, power-vent, tankless, electric, gas by a licensed gas technician, rental buyout advice
• Sump pumps and backwater valves: pits, pumps, battery backups, discharge lines, weeping tile disconnection, backwater valves with permit and inspection
• Bathroom and kitchen plumbing: fixtures, valves, vanities, dishwasher and fridge lines, laundry moves, basement bathroom plumbing, lead and galvanized service replacement on the private side

What it does not handle

This site covers residential plumbing in existing houses. Exterior waterproofing membranes, foundation crack injection and structural work are different trades, and a wet basement with water coming through the wall goes to them first. Rough-in plumbing for a new build or an addition is construction work. Septic tanks and fields are a separate licence. Commercial and industrial plumbing are outside its scope. You will be told when a job belongs to someone else rather than sold something that will not fix it.

Licences and rules

The contractor holds the applicable Ontario plumbing licence and pulls plumbing permits through the City of Kitchener where the work requires one. Plumber is a compulsory trade certified through Skilled Trades Ontario. Gas connections are made by a licensed gas technician under TSSA rules, and electrical work goes through the Electrical Safety Authority. Anyone in your house should be able to show current WSIB coverage and liability insurance, and you should ask.

How this works

When you call 226-773-8157 or send the form, your details go straight to the plumber. For an emergency they help you get the water off first and then come out. For everything else they look at the pipe, the drain, the pit or the heater, tell you whether it is a repair or a replacement, and quote the work in writing before it starts. The work is done under their own licence and insurance. Your information is not sold, not shared with a list of competing companies, and there is no markup added to your bill for the introduction.

What we won't do

• Publish reviews we didn't earn. When we have them, they'll be real ones with names.
• Quote a firm price before someone has seen the job.
• Send anyone into your property who we would not have in our own.
